A vacuum cleaner that doesn't work on carpet? Bad design! Buyer warning!

For those who don't want to read further, here are the main issues with Dyson: 1) The scrub head height is not adjustable, it is a floating design. The floating head doesn't allow you to collect some of the larger items that the competition does better. 3) Floating scrub head causes too much suction on thick carpets and rugs - the vacuum won't work on some carpets! 4) Dyson doesn't advertise front-end, so won't work on carpet. What else do you expect from us? Long review: After giving up Dyson stands for the past decade, we've finally decided that this year we'll finally be choosing Dyson as a Christmas gift. We've used Shark's cheaper competitors in the past, and while Shark have the same good, if not better, warranty on their products, it feels like we're going to wear them out in a matter of years. We have 3 dogs that shed uncontrollably and we have to constantly vacuum several times a week to keep the hair in check. We were excited to try the Dyson and quickly put it together when it arrived. My wife took it into the living room to clean our large carpet. The suction was so strong that the brush head stuck to the carpet and prevented the vacuum from moving towards me until it was turned off. We scratched our heads for a second and thought there must be some sort of rug or rug installation. We read the owner's manual and it says that some rugs clean better without wheels. We tried it with the casters removed and it had the same result. I knew it was a strong vacuum because the suction is very strong, so I tried it myself. As soon as you turn it on, it immediately sticks to the carpet. I could get it to rock it back and forth, but I was trying so hard I could feel the plastic bending and I was afraid the device would break. It just didn't work on our carpet. For test number two, we took him into the bedroom. I have to admit that this Dyson test passed with flying colours. It sucked up a ton of dirt and carpet cleaning powder that had built up on our carpets since our last vacuum started losing suction. I was totally impressed with how it works in the bedroom. Unfortunately, it was the living room carpet test that bothered me a lot. After reading many reviews and watching some YouTube videos, some recommended fixes were suggested, e.g. B. drilling a few holes to relieve some pressure, or attaching a plastic furniture glide to the front to lift the front edge and let air through. Sorry, but having to repair a $400-$500 product yourself is just unacceptable. I refused to believe that Dyson would sell a product that was supposed to be a vacuum that wouldn't work on some carpets. I decided to call Dyson. Dyson has reported that our carpet is "incompatible" with the vacuum cleaner. I will say that again. Apparently our carpet is not compatible. For example, if you have an MS-DOS computer and are trying to run Apple or OS/2 software on it. Who would have thought that one of the most reputable vacuum cleaners would come out with a vacuum that isn't compatible with the carpets sold at Lowes and Home Depot, which are also sold by Dyson. If someone held up court cards and told me which ones are compatible and which ones aren't, and showed me a vacuum cleaner and a lawn with grass, I'd say "incompatible." But when I hold a photo of a vacuum cleaner and a carpet in my hands, I would think that "compatible!". To be honest the Dyson rep who answered my call was absolutely respectful and already seemed to understand what we were calling. complain. Apparently they already had similar complaints and knew exactly how to react to them. They recommended we consider swapping out for a cordless model, but since we need to keep the vacuum running to clean for dogs, relying on battery charging wasn't a viable option at the time. So we had to return our Christmas present 6 days before Christmas and ordered the product again from a Dyson competitor. It's a shame because I really wanted to try their products. I've had friends and family swear by Dyson vacuums, but I think this new design trend has now created "compatibility issues". Being aware of the problem, they neglected to publicize it before people faced the problem of buying, unpacking, assembling, testing, disassembling, repackaging and returning. Such a problem because the product was poorly designed, poorly communicated and poorly resolved, not to mention stating that it was incompatible and should be returned.
