Bought a new Animal 2 Total Clean. I use this vacuum at home on a short pile rug that is very similar to a Berber rug. The phenomenal suction power made it very, very difficult for the vacuum to move across the carpet. Went to the Dyson dealer/service center (100 miles round trip to Atlanta, ugh). Update 2: Dyson fixed mine and sent it back to me. LOVE this vacuum! This is my first Dyson vacuum (Animal 2 in dark blue) and I love it. We have an option with all the extra tools and I'm really not sure I'll ever use half of it, but it's nice. I've tried so many vacuums that I just hated and ended up investing in this one when it came out. It's relatively lightweight, easy to set up, but it took me a minute to move around the wand (uncap the top handle and pull up). Also, there's no button to tilt, so you step onto the back of the floor base.

For those who don't want to read further, here are the main issues with Dyson: 1) The scrub head height is not adjustable, it is a floating design. The floating head doesn't allow you to collect some of the larger items that the competition does better. 3) Floating scrub head causes too much suction on thick carpets and rugs - the vacuum won't work on some carpets! 4) Dyson doesn't advertise front-end, so won't work on carpet.
