We just got this vacuum and used our old Hoover wind tunnel in our living room before running the Dyson over the same area. Dyson made such a mess of hair and dirt that I was disgusted at how dirty our house really was. My wife and I keep the house very clean and were surprised at what vacuum left behind. We have a German Shepherd and a Siberian Husky, they both shed like crazy! This vacuum is exactly what we were looking for, with all the extra attachments. We also have a very thick rug, it really grabs the rug and sucks hard but nothing stops it from squeezing. My wife is 5ft 3in and had no problem pushing on high thick carpets. If you have a shaggy carpet, you may have trouble with the rasp bar gripping the carpet too much, making it difficult to push. I personally like the feeling when the vacuum cleaner pulls the floor and vibrates, it lets me know it's doing its job and cleaning well. 5 year parts and labor warranty! Got it for 380
