Review on πŸ“€ High-Speed Sony DRX710UL DVD+R Double Layer External DVDΒ±RW Drive (16x) - Enhanced Performance and Versatility by Ronald Lunn

Revainrating 5 out of 5

Easy to install and works great

Plus: Windows XP recognizes it. All you have to do is plug it in. I already had the Roxio software installed and it recognized it as a drive, so I didn't install the software that came with it. I burned the CD in about 5 minutes after opening the box. What a joy. It comes with a power cord, a USB cable, and a FireWire cable. You should get the DVD+R package, which is the fastest format it will burn. I haven't updated the firmware to make other formats run faster, so I don't know if it was possible to buy something else to slide it in. Quiet: As quiet as my internal CD-RW drive. It's quite big. This corresponds to the size of an 8-port network hub. But as others have said it comes with a kickstand so it doesn't really take up much space if you lay it on its side with the kickstand. Unlike other small items that came with a stand, I used the stand because otherwise it would take up too much space. It blocks your computer from time to time if you have older Windows version. Not always, but now and then. Will updating the firmware solve the problem? Who knows, I didn't dare to try! It never freezes on Windows XP.

Pros
  • Everything great!
Cons
