Review on Sharpening KERYE Professional Whetstone Flattening by Johnny Bloomer

Revainrating 4 out of 5

Great set of bricks, just wish they were bigger.

Love this set it has everything you need and works great. I'm new to stone sharpening but they still leave a very good sharpness on my kitchen knives. I started with 1000 grit to shave off some of the dents from my fillet knife when boning the chicken. Made about 10 passes in both directions. then I switched to 3000 so sharpened it and it definitely came back to its original edge after about 70 passes on both sides. I tried 70 more pieces of 8000 grit to really get that razor blade but I just couldn't get it. I'm just not very good yet. Anyway, I'm very happy about it. My only complaint that keeps it from being a 5 star hotel is the size. The stones are 2.5 inches wide and 7 inches long. And when the stand is on, it rises just 2 inches from the table. I was hoping the stone would be bigger and stand out a bit from the table, but that's personal preference as I'm a tall guy. It probably won't bother anyone of average height. Another short-term downside worth noting is that the logo on the surface of the stone is quite prominent, so it really ruins your groove until it's completely shaved off. You get a steady beat until you hit the slick logo and then slide over the rock like it's smeared with jelly or something. It's really annoying but it will shave off soon, just use a leveling stone to remove it.
