Cons: - It only has MPEG compression - Limited choice of CS mount lenses for over 5MP - CS mount lenses are more sensitive and difficult to focus. .- USB 3.0 with MJPEG format which is better suited for multi-camera setups on laptops with limited USB ports.- There are many cheap and really good CS mount lenses out there. Noise and Color: Colors and details out of the box. in black is the best I have found for this price. I have a Canon M6 MKII with an IS STM 11-22mm lens ($1200) with an Elgato CamLink 4K ($130) obviously less zoom noise. There are some expected artifacts from MJPEG, but the skin tones look great. while the noise at 1080p is lower than the M6 MKII and almost as low as the M6 MKII at 4K which is software downscaled to 1080p which uses 4 pixels for pixel averaging and has much lower noise than 1080p. Canon doesn't appear to be using hardware sensor downscaling, which is typically done to achieve higher frame rates, reduce heat, or protect its pricier cameras Canon is famous for. It looks like this chip is doing pixel averaging as 1080p looks just as good as downsampled 4K. Using a Document Camera: I like using the scissor mic stand for the document camera and was hoping to use my M6 MKII on it, but unfortunately it's too heavy. and even with a reinforced stand, it still wobbles. You need a C stand which is expensive. This camera is light enough not to shake. Lens: The lens is decent but has the expected vignetting around the edges. You'll notice it on the graph paper in the margins where I have the logbook. I would recommend getting a 10MP (megapixel) lens or higher to use this camera for 4K and a 5MP lens for 1080p only. There is a difference between an IR corrected lens and an IR cut filter on the lens. Outdoors you need an IR cut filter, but indoors you will see minimal color changes due to the low IR levels compared to sunlight. In sunlight you will notice that the IR light changes color. You can use double-sided tape to attach the IR filter to the lens. If you are careful not to leave fingerprints on the IR filter. The image format is also confusing. The image format means it can focus on a 1/2.5-inch diameter square, which translates to 0.4-inch on this sensor. This means you can use any larger aspect ratio, e.g. 1/2.3 and it will work, but you can't use an aspect ratio of 1/3 as that would crop the image. This simply reduces the megapixel rating of the lens by surface area ratio, likely reducing a 10MP lens to an 8MP lens (i.e. 4K) or a 5MP lens (i.e. 2.7K) to a 4 -MP lens (ie 2K) will. .
