This cork is not a solid piece of cork, however.
This cork is not a single piece of cork, but consists of 3 layers glued together. Who knows what kind of glue they use?! I use this as a stopper for drinking water, so I'm concerned about the possibility of chemicals from the adhesive leaching into the water. In terms of fit, it's not airtight; Water still comes out when I turn the container upside down. I think a light coat of beeswax might solve this problem.
