Review on Techwood Smokeless Non Stick Extractor Technology by Ron Collins

Revainrating 3 out of 5

Far from "Smoke Free "

Like many others, I bought this because I live in a very cold environment and wanted a way to grill in the winter without stomping around in the deep snow outside. This element generally works adequately. To clean, I wipe away grease with a paper towel, then put the lid, grill grate, drip tray, and lower water tray in the dishwasher. And no more than that in the dishwasher. I do NOT use the heat drying cycle in my dishwasher because I think it can warp the plastic in the water tray. Problems with this grill: 1) The chemical fumes it gave off for the first hour on high power were really acrid and overpowering. Must be very ill. In hindsight, I would definitely let it run outside for the first hour, even if it's -10 degrees outside or so. After several hours of use, the smoke will gradually disappear. 2) It produces a significant amount of smoke when you crank it on high, which is the only way I roast (mostly beef). But it's still definitely less than the smoke produced, for example, by cooking hamburgers in an open iron pan on the stove. So it's worth having. But it should be "Smokeless", not "Smokeless". It seems to be 1/3 of normal smoke 3) There is a bribe for checking in the box. The language is careful not to ask for a good rating directly (it just shows a 5 star picture) but it is what it is (you need to email them so they can verify your rating to to get a free item). Keep that in mind as you read all the rave reviews on here.
