My daughter tried this for the first time. She is a skinny 8 year old girl and her measurements were on the border of two sizes - we took the size and it fits her enough and she has room to grow. She really liked the tail and learned to swim in it very quickly, although she is just an average swimmer. I stayed with her the whole time but she did a great job. I'm a little worried the fabric won't hold up, but time will tell. The only problem was that her foot slipped out of the fin several times and we had to stop and change places. She has very thin ankles and I wonder if the fabric will sag because she is so small. The other kids in the pool were fascinated by the tail and one little girl even thought she was a real mermaid. She had a great time and can't wait to use it again.
