I bought this helmet for my 8 year old granddaughter because of sizing but it's a bit too big for her. The size is my only complaint about this item, she loves the helmet and so do I. It looks nice in the product description, albeit quite complicated, but out of the box it's just awesome. The patchwork pattern is textured and the stitching looks real. The helmet is girly and shiny, but not too flashy in my opinion. Degree. This is exactly what a girl aged 8-11 needs. The helmet is lined internally with fabric-lined foam and feels solidly built. Until we find a better helmet, we'll let them wear this helmet. with a thick knitted hat below that works well in winter weather. She is not allowed to drive on the street, but initially in the nearest school parking lot. Inside the helmet there is a switch that the child can reach while wearing it. This turns on a row of small colored lights on the front of the helmet. They light up in rapid succession when she turns her head or taps her helmet. So far this feature continues to work well for our granddaughter. This is a great helmet at a reasonable price. Just note that the size is a little big.
