I was looking for a set of unique S&P shakers, not vintage or stainless steel/silver and glass shakers and didn't want to spend a fortune on either S&P shaker . I couldn't find anything anywhere in the price range I was hoping for, so I took it. I've searched a lot and yes maybe I've spent too much time on S&P shakers but then I found them and I MUST have them. They cost more than I normally pay for something like S&P shakers BUT for the most part they were a good choice. You are adorable! They grip the outer/female part or tongue and groove so you can hold them together. In the set I received one shaker was a little darker and I'm not sure if that's intentional or not but I still like that about them. I use it for peppers as there is no other indicator to tell them apart. If it were functional, I think a bit more contrast might make it clear that it's not something that some might see as a downside if they expected them to fit. They are very easy to wash as the surface is mostly smooth. They hold a good amount of salt and pepper, are filled from the bottom and closed with a screw cap - there are no leaks either. My last set did this and it drove me crazy cleaning them up every time they were moved. I had to give this set 4 stars because they just don't do their job very well. Maybe it deserves more than 3 stars or less overall, but the aesthetics, which I love, the fact that we rarely salt (or even pepper) our food at the table, and will probably prepare it lightly, keeps me from giving less . Each shake releases VERY little salt and pepper. so small I got up to use a large can of salt and that goes for both, although one has a few more holes. However, as a nutritionist, I had to admit that they can be absolutely perfect for those who need or want to limit their sodium intake, or even those with very independent toddlers who want to do it all on their own. You will never shake too much and spoil your dish. I don't think it would be such a bad thing to sell them that way, unless it's just a coincidence that my set is like that. I can try either drilling additional holes or just expanding the existing ones. I usually only use one large S&P box/can when cooking so I can see my spices better in my hands. So for me 4 stars is fair. If I can fix it to improve flow without ruining them or injuring myself I would definitely buy again. I love earthy tones and natural materials like bamboo, hemp, wood etc. I'll try to remember to update after my project!
