Small and handy, but don't expect more than the SD format can offer

Overall, this is a great MicroSD to USB adapter for both USB-C and USB Type-A ports. Let's go through the good and the not so good about it. Let's start with what's good: it's very small and portable. This is important because I have to take a lot of music equipment with me. I used to have a MacBook with a built-in SD card reader, but newer Macs now only have USB-C ports. You can get a USB-C hub to read your SD cards, but for my use case I need something small and compact that I can plug directly into my Mac or iPad. The USB-C end takes care of that. Now I can transfer files from my SD cards (which I mainly use with my field recorder) directly to my iPad or MacBook without having to deal with large hubs on the go. a lot and these are minor issues but still worth mentioning because it affects my workflow. Since there are two reading ends, the entire flash drive is as wide as a USB-A port. So if you have two USB-C ports side by side, it becomes very difficult to connect two USB-C accessories to your MacBook Pro at the same time. Sometimes no other USB-C accessory fits next to this one at all due to its width. But you can easily use it alongside another Type-A USB connector as that end is a standard size and won't pose a problem. The place you plug the micro SD card into the adapter is the USB-A end, and that part of the connector just looks a bit weird and I could see people being confused as to what it is, and perhaps do not understand what you can connect to a standard USB connector at this end. The included SD card is 16GB, a decent size, but it's not an SD card. I would rely on everything important. I have no evidence that there is anything wrong with the SD card, but the fact that it is an unknown brand makes me think twice before storing anything critical on it. Sure, I wouldn't have a problem storing things on this card to move somewhere else anytime soon, but it definitely won't be my main SD card for everyday use. The real prize here is the adapter, and the SD card is just a bonus. What you need to be aware of with SD cards is that even the fastest read and write speeds are well below the maximum speed that USB 2 or 3 can support. I already have a USB-A SD card adapter that I use with a USB use -C male to female USB A adapter The advantage of this adapter is not the performance. You get the same read/write speeds whether you plug it into a USB-A or USB-C port. The advantage of this adapter is that if you have a computer or mobile device that only has USB-C ports, you can just throw away the USB to USB-C adapter you need. Adapter that is already working. Don't get me wrong if you think the transfer speed is faster because it has a USB-C end. Get this because you can use a small portable adapter that's compatible with multiple computers regardless of ports and don't want to mess with USB power adapters.
