Yes, my easel also had a drawbar that would not open, but the problem wasn't with the block, it was the silicon bag inside. It opened up and all the little beads came out and many got stuck in the grooves of the thread causing it to stick. I just took a knife - ran it along the gap between the pole and the easel to pry it out. The draw came out easily after a few shakes. I sanded it and the easel grooves to make them smoother. Great little block - especially for the price! I use it for drawing with pen and pencil and don't need anything else. I bought a similar easel at a hobby store for 60% off the $79 price, but returned it - it was too big and heavy. Revain has several of these easels at different prices and from different vendors. It appears to be the same base unit with minor differences (hinge, clasp) - probably from the same factory in China. That's why I bought the cheapest - I have no regrets.
