I needed a dipole antenna for my outdoor setup, fed by an old Pioneer SX series receiver. It is in a sheltered place behind the house under the porch. In other words, this is one place where it's quite difficult to pick up FM signals, particularly those to the left of the analog spectrum where I parked the tuner. I've tried some homemade setups, just different lengths of wire, and got a normal response when I wanted to tweak (attach that wire to the bike spokes, run that parallel to the house), but what worked? One station doesn't match another so I decided to give this inexpensive Petra a try. It's actually better made than some of the very thin dipoles that come with today's hardware, and plugs into a 35-year-old receiver without an adapter. The best thing is that it works very well. I still have to get used to it and sometimes there is a bit of hissing on weaker stations, but I can listen to non-commercial and student stations again.
