Perfect as a finishing touch after tempering or tempering a knife. You apply (just) some green compound to the suede side as if you were applying "chalk" by rubbing it back and forth until it turns a little green. You don't have to do this every time you use it. Do not apply anything to the smooth leather side. Run the knife over the mixed leather about 6 or 8 times on each side. Use the weight of your hand, but don't press hard. Then do the same with the smooth leather side. This greatly affects the quality of your final edge.
