Review on Nikon AF-S FX NIKKOR 28-300mm f/3.5-5.6G ED Vibration Reduction Zoom Lens: Ultimate Auto Focus Lens for Nikon DSLR Cameras by DoYun Hwang ᠌

Revainrating 3 out of 5

Overall pretty good, an equal number of pros and cons.

I bought it as a universal zoom + video shooting. It turned out to be practically unsuitable for video, tk. the zoom ring without a jerk cannot be moved. The stabilizer is some strange cheap, it takes a long time to enter the regime and does not really help. As a universal zoom, I was not impressed. The picture is weak and very dark. Sigma 24-105 / 4 OS Art won it, it is lighter and the picture is better. And if, on comparable apertures, we cut a crop from the center of the sigma by 105mm and compare it with 300mm from 28-300, then at 36MP we get an approximately equal result. At the same time, the sigma is more compact, better optically and has 24mm on the SHU. Sold this miracle and have no regrets.

Pros
  • The weight Versatility
Cons
  • Dark Curved geometry Weak micro-contrast Zoom ring does not rotate smoothly Bad stabilizer

Some pros: Great zoom, sharpness, versatility. Has cons: Nikon's only ultrazoom for full-size cameras, the angle at 300mm corresponds to 200
