This chess set is very good except ours also had mold on some pieces as described in another one star review. So we're giving it back. Otherwise the board is nice, the elements have good magnetism and are generally comfortable to the touch, and the board folds up nicely for travel with the elements neatly stored in separate storage compartments. There are a few downsides. Besides the shapes worth mentioning: 1. In the set sent to us, the board does not open fully, so it sags slightly during play.2. Probably not important for most, but important for me: The wood structure on the squares runs parallel to an imaginary line through the players. In my opinion, this is impractical: the wood grain should be perpendicular to an imaginary line that runs through the players.
