This kit is a good upgrade for the ej253 or any Subaru with a blown single ply headgasket. It's a laminated steel gasket and it's held up great so far. It comes with a bunch of spacers that you don't really need. All I used were head gaskets, valve cover rubber gaskets and bushings, intake manifold and throttle body gaskets. I couldn't use exhaust gaskets on the 2005 Outback because it has an oval bore instead of the double bore like the old Subaru heads.
