Review on Matthews IR3HLK BN WA 42 Outdoor Ceiling Fan by Jon Krishna

Revainrating 4 out of 5

Nice design of the ceiling fan

This fan is really nice and exactly as pictured. The design is elegant and nestles against the ceiling. It matches perfectly with our 9 inch ceilings in our bedroom. The installation guide was somewhat lacking, making installation more difficult than it should have been. There is a wall control and a remote control. It is recommended to replace existing switches with wall switches. Turning on the light with the wall remote is not as easy as flicking the switch when standing in the dark. (The backlight button is small.) The remote works, but you have to press it multiple times to wake it up. It's also almost impossible to change the brightness of the light with the remote as it switches too quickly. Note that the LED light is WAY too bright at its brightest when looking this way. I made it dark to make it less noticeable. The light only shines vertically downwards. If you need a lot of good quality light from this fan, this is not the best choice. Since we have light in the same room, this fan is enough. In operation, the fan is incredibly quiet at the three lowest settings. In the third shot, I can barely hear it. There is a bit of noise at higher settings, but relatively quiet for the fan. The airflow volume is definitely high for our room, which is about 17 x 20 x 9 feet. If I knew that this fan improved airflow and reduced noise (compared to our previous one), I would have replaced it many years ago!

Pros
  • Nice
Cons
  • Good but not great
