Matthews IR3HLK BN WA 42 Outdoor Ceiling Fan Review

I have previously purchased this particular unlit fan and I love it! However, this version with light is not so good. It seems smaller and I just didn't like it. However, I would strongly advise a model without light.

Nice and quiet fan. The only problem is that the switch is loose! It's not a toggle button, it's a button that's very finicky and sometimes takes a few tries to turn off the light. If anyone in the company reads this let me know if a suitable toggle switch can be purchased. It would be difficult for the elderly to use the switch.

Beautiful fan, easy to hang. A blade was made incorrectly, but a replacement kit was shipped relatively quickly. Speed levels 4, 5 and 6 produce a noticeable sound/feel as each of the three sheets passes. But we'll rarely use anything higher than setting 3, which is essentially silent. The amount of air movement at 6 is staggering! Actually the speeds should be labeled as 1, 3, 5, 7, 9 and of course 11.

I did a lot of research before purchasing this fan and this is the only fan that tested all points for me: 1) Energy efficient and quiet DC motor, 2) Hugger profile for flush mounting, 3) attractive, modern design made of real wood, no plastic, 4) discreet LED backlighting in soft white. Good fan. The engine is really quiet, the only noise it makes is a little wind noise from the blades at higher speeds. I love the solid wood blades, they look prettier than the faux wood patterns on some of the cheaper fans. Installation was pretty easy, much better than the last Hunter brand fan I installed. I was concerned that Revain would be able to properly package and ship this item. However, it was well packaged by the manufacturer and delivered in perfect condition. My only complaint is

A nice fan, but be careful! We installed 3 and they were a complete pain. It's bloody hard to sync all 3 fans with one switch/remote! And even then, every once in a while 1 of the 3 will turn in a different direction than the others and it usually takes forever for them all to turn in the same direction again - grrrr! Same thing happens with lights, 1 out of 3 won't light up then sync forever. And to top it off, the light on one of the fans literally comes on spontaneously, usually in the…

Update 7/3/18: I left a message and the company called me back immediately the next day. Diagnosing a faulty remote control requires removing all accessories, which requires the assistance of an electrician. I shared my concern of having to pay an electrician three times (initial install, diagnostics, replacement install) and just send me a replacement so that an electrician's diagnostic visit isn't wasted. This fan is really nice and exactly as pictured. The design is elegant and nestles against the ceiling. It matches perfectly with our 9 inch ceilings in our bedroom. The installation guide was somewhat lacking, making installation more difficult than it should have been. There is a wall control and a remote control.
