Review on Cardinal Gates Stairway Special Gate: Safeguarding Your Stairs with Style by Jennifer Kiel

We have one of these gates (black version) at the top of the stairs and just a 'blocker' at the bottom of the stairs. Well, our grandson, who is less than a year old, can now easily throw the lower barricade aside, so we decided to buy another such gate, in this case white. Screws to go through the drywall to the studs but I couldn't get the latch to engage properly. It turns out that the latch should have been rejected at the factory. Please see the picture. This will normally be a one star rating as the gates were not secured, but I went to cardinalgates.com, found the contact email address (customerservice@cardinalgates.com), sent an email with a detailed description of the problem (with photos!) Friday afternoon and Monday morning I got an answer that they would send me a replacement shutter. A few days later I got a new bar, it works great and now our grandson is stuck - he's defeated for now. And 5 stars for the gate and customer service. We like these goals very much. We only have a grandson once or twice a week but he still needs to be locked up and secured. With this gate it's easy to take it off and put it back on so we don't have to live with it 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. Highly recommended
