THE HEATER WILL MELT AND MY BETA WILL HURT (AND MAY DIE) BY STUCKING IN THE MELTING AREA

I am angry. I have had this heater for 14 days. It worked great. Temperature control was amazing. I liked the external handle on the cord for easy temperature changes and such. BUT 14 days. Think of that number, just 14 days, and remember that I'm angry, more than angry. The backstory of my favorite red veiled beta tester named Meatloaf. My best friend and I rescue sick and dying beta and freshwater snails. Meatloaf had a rough time when I got it. He had a terrible case of swim bladder and nutritional deficiencies. It took weeks to heal and get him out of intensive care. Finally regaining strength, he contracted Ichtyphus from a possible Pleco, who died shortly after introducing him to Meatloaf's new home. He walked through them again, whole and healthy. He has loads of energy, is the most social beta I've ever had the pleasure of sharing my space with. He loves to do somersaults and ride his pump on the creek and he is the best friend of one of my dogs. This is a really fun fish that will hunt down any creature that wants to play with it, even when it's away from its home. We get along so well that he lets me feed him by hand and even beat him. By far the most entertaining and best beta I've ever seen. Until October 29, 14 days of this wonderful heater. As I was putting my other animals to bed, I noticed that Meatloaf didn't meet me at his house like he always did, because bedtime is snack time for the little ones. Fleshy. I rummaged around in his tank in a panic trying to find him. nowhere to be found Until I tried to look behind the heater and noticed something slightly red and then it popped a little. That damn heater has MELted! Melted so much that Meatloaf, who is a curious fish, was able to climb inside. I immediately panicked. It's alive and stuck and I didn't know how to get it out. I immediately turned off the heating and ran for tools. In the video you can see a spike in the middle with a little white on it, which I had to carefully cut when the meatloaf almost touched it because there doesn't seem to be room for fish in the heater. I successfully pulled him out and placed him in an intensive care unit in shallow water. He's discolored on the side from touching the heater, his fins are torn to shreds, and he's so tense he's having trouble breathing. If my child can do this, they will most likely remain in the ICU until their fins at least partially grow, as they cannot swim properly. Now he's still in shock. I'm still angry at the moment. I researched and researched pumps that would suit my needs. I never expected a pump to be as defective as this one. Before anyone comes get me, yes, the temperature has been set to a safe 78F, and yes, it has been fully submerged in water since installation. If Meatloaf dies I will be so angry. Not only did I spend a lot of time and money trying to heal him before it happened, I'm attached to him. He is my child who greets me every time I enter the room. I will never buy anything from this brand again. This is unacceptable. I'll let you know if Sweet Meatloaf can handle it. For all of you, he is better. Signed Angry Mother Beta. Update 11/02/2020: Meatloaf continues to heal and learn to deal with his damaged fins. He was transferred to my large intensive care unit and is going back to his large room. He is currently on antibiotics for his burns and is feeling better every day. I'm still unsatisfied with it and haven't received a response from the company yet.
