When I bought this lens I was looking for a fast prime lens for group photography, walks and landscape photography. It meets all these requirements very well. I've used it with the D600, D610 and D750. There is very nice bokeh wide open and sharpness all the way around. Nikon has since released 20mm f/1.8G and 24mm f/1.8G lenses. It's possible that if I had to choose from all three available at the time I probably would have gone for 20mm f/1.8G, but I'm glad I didn't have a choice at the time because I feel like 28mm did a bit more versatile. It's not too wide and not too narrow. 20mm and 24mm would be too wide for most other photos. They would probably stay in your pocket more often than 28mm. In fact, the 28mm lens is mostly used when I go for walks, although I also have a 50mm f/1.4G and an 85mm f/1.8G, both of which can be too narrow at times. Simply put, the 28mm is ready for almost any situation. Love it.
