Do not regret this purchase

I finally started using this beauty. I like the wide angle for events or places with limited room to move. It captures images beautifully, has excellent low-light performance, no distortion to speak of, and focuses quickly enough for my needs. I shoot with a Nikon D750.

Pros
  • Absolutely amazing!
Cons
  • No color required

Must-have lens Best camera lens

This lens has the perfect focal length. Not too wide, not too sharp. It was much sharper than I expected, on par with the 85MM f/1.8, which I find to be one of Nikon's sharpest FF lenses. The bokeh is ok, not as smooth as on 50mm or 85mm but still good, with Lr nothing can be changed with an NR mask with a circular gradient. I highly recommend this lens for portraits or landscapes.

Pros
  • Hands-free
Cons
  • Questionable purchase for seniors

Incredibly versatile lens.

28mm is a well-known focal length for full-frame cameras (most cell phone cameras are 28mm). I would not recommend this lens for crop sensors. This is my new universal lens. It's fast, sharp, not too wide and not too narrow. You have to be pretty close for each portrait, but when my model is a 6 month old girl, it's not a big deal. The autofocus is quite noisy and could be better, but the image quality is excellent.

Pros
  • Pleasant
Cons
  • For old

This is one of my favorite lenses in the collection

This is one of my favorite lenses in the collection. I use it a lot with my Nikon D7200 as I really like the field of view and perspective of this crop sensor lens. It focuses very quickly, quietly and accurately. This is a lighter lens that doesn't mean cheap, making it a great travel lens. It's also a great full-frame lens if you need the full angle of view of a 28mm lens. A must-have lens if you take a lot of wide-angle shots.

Pros
  • Quick Change
Cons
  • Expensive Insurance

Great lens for reportage work

Great lens for reportage work. It's light, fast and focuses quickly. The image quality is absolutely excellent and the images have a certain pop that is often found in more expensive lenses. Build quality leaves a lot to be desired, especially the manual focus ring, which is pretty crude for this price point. At least the manual focus ring can be turned easily so that you can focus on the grain with one finger. I would like the lens to be a bit smaller, but I suspect the size is necessary dueโ€ฆ

Pros
  • Nice item
Cons
  • Everything to add

A wonderful all-round hiking, group and landscape lens.

When I bought this lens I was looking for a fast prime lens for group photography, walks and landscape photography. It meets all these requirements very well. I've used it with the D600, D610 and D750. There is very nice bokeh wide open and sharpness all the way around. Nikon has since released 20mm f/1.8G and 24mm f/1.8G lenses. It's possible that if I had to choose from all three available at the time I probably would have gone for 20mm f/1.8G, but I'm glad I didn't have a choice at the timeโ€ฆ

Pros
  • Great for a small home
Cons
  • Not the best

Great lens for wide angle shots! Nanocrystalline coating!

I bought this lens because my 50mm f1.8g was almost always too narrow indoors for photographing family, children, events etc. I had to go too far and sometimes impossible to back up within the confines of indoor photography. I chose the 28mm f1.8g over the 35mm f1.8g because the 28mm has a nano coating which I think is a big plus, especially if you're using it outdoors. It's a bit bigger than I'd like, but still tiny compared to the 24-70f2.8 that I've been considering buying for a long time. I
