Review on 🌴 Hamiledyi Natural Driftwood for Aquarium Reptiles - Decorative Wood Branches for Fish Tank - 3 PCS by Lucy Baker

Revainrating 1 out of 5

Left a gross film on my aquarium and killed my live plants!

I bought this to add to 3 different betta tanks. All water parameters are relatively the same with filter and heater and light. As it is a 3 piece set I thought it was perfect. When I looked at the reviews, most people said they didn't need to soak it before putting it in the tank, so I wasn't worried. That was my fault. 2 out of 3 portions came out fine in each tank, didn't need to be soaked and didn't soak, which was perfect. However, one of them completely destroyed my tank. Within a few hours, the water turned a milky white color, not typical of tree stumps that release tannins. The next day, a brownish-white film appeared, covering the entire surface of the water and the entire aquarium. It was disgusting. It even covered all of my live plants that I kept in the aquarium. Luckily I didn't put/place a rooster in the aquarium otherwise he would probably be very sick or dead. I cleaned the water and took out the driftwood and sure enough the driftwood was covered in a slimy white layer. It took me a few days to clean the tank and filter because the film got in and clogged the filter system. My live plants are dead. I'm not sure what was wrong with that tree, but it definitely wasn't worth the money or time I spent cleaning my aquarium and replacing any plants that died as a result . I've been following the other two very closely for the same issues, but haven't seen anything like this particular thread. Very disappointed that it took me so much trouble. Update: No matter how much I soak and clean the driftwood, it continues to form a rough film on the driftwood. My poor rooster got sick thinking I was clean. Not correct.
