Review on Filter Coconut Granular Activated Charcoal by Andrew Roll

Revainrating 5 out of 5

Too fine for most aquariums

I can see this working well IF you have a cartridge designed for very fine charcoal, but as far as aquariums go, this material is too fine. I bought net bags especially for this and the grain was so small that it even slipped out of the bags. Good thing I also use cotton in the filter to keep them trapped until the water returns. The filtration seems to be working well, the water has disappeared from the hummus. Tea colored water becomes crystal clear in about 36 hours at a circulation of 1400 gallons per hour in a volume of about 400 gallons. I'll see how it goes as I expect this charcoal to clog the pores much quicker than other coarse grain coconut charcoals. I one more note - this charcoal looks quite shiny, I'm very used to coconut charcoal looking dull. I'll see how long the charcoal will filter and let you know in a few months. Seller, you really need to specify the grit in the listing.
