After two years, no matter what we tried, the coffee became very bitter. Gaskets replaced, thoroughly cleaned, preheated, nothing works. We regularly use two other moka pots, an aluminum 12-cup Bialetti that we've had for over five years and a 6-cup Ikea stainless steel moka that we've owned for about four years. Years. Absolutely no problems with any of these pans and I've never had a problem with any other pan I've owned or used. BTW, although I bought this stainless steel moka partly because steel doesn't affect the flavor of the coffee. like aluminum, presumably, the metal's effect on taste is negligible at best. Aluminum pans are cheaper, easier to clean, and conduct heat better. From now on I only buy aluminum moks. One star for good looks + one star for making great coffee for two years.
