I was looking for a cheap way to shred cans and it worked pretty well. All in all it will work, and I was also the victim of a poorly fastened handle! Instead of writing a bad review for what seemed like a minor design flaw, I stuck the bar in the grip and rested that side on the flat part of the anvil. A few hammer hits - on the opposite side of the pin - and I'm back in business. Thanks dad, I learned a lot from you. The action is pretty simple, insert the jar, pull the handle down and repeat the process. I set up a two by four breaker about three feet long near one end. That way I can sit in a chair and lean it against a fence or building with one foot and crush it. I like it because I can adjust where I sit and where I can crush cans, it's portable. About actual can crushing? I got bored and started playing and discovered two things. For some odd reason, cans are easier to turn upside down. Another thing I found out was that when I loaded the can into the grinder, if I used my thumb to push the can in? (A small dent will do.) The can is VERY easy to crush. Aside from the grip/pin issue - which anyone with a little brains can fix - it's well worth the money.
