The tie doesn't go through the clasp

I like the colors of the aprons and the density of the fabric. I can't get the tie that goes around the neck where it needs to go to fasten. The tie is folded in half and sewn up, making it too thick. Now I have to cut and redo quite a bit before I can use the aprons. I hadn't planned that when ordering the aprons.
