Stay away from this garbage!

You will read many conflicting reviews about this product. I suppose you could call this Atlantic media cabinet hit or miss. For me it was a big failure. I spent 90 minutes of my time on this junk - 70 minutes to put it back together and 20 minutes to take it apart, put it back in the crate and return the Revain. Decades ago I worked in a video store. One of my jobs was assembling video furniture. We have always offered our customers two types of furniture: expensive and cheap. They got to know the manufacturers and how well or poorly their furniture was made. One of my favorite manufacturers used to be SAUDER. However, they paid a premium for their storage cabinets. Right out of the box, I could tell right away that this company's product was rubbish. You may have seen the signs of a poorly constructed pressboard. However, I knew what I was getting into when I only spent $70 on this intricate shelving system. I went for cheap and ended up paying the price. One good thing I can say about Atlantic is that they have labeled all of their products. But even after this feat was accomplished, I spent several minutes looking at the instructions and trying to figure out how they fit together. That is, until I realized they forgot to include page 3 of the parenthetical instructions. So I went online and downloaded their instruction manual in .pdf format. Examining the shelves, I saw manufacturing defects. The pressed wood warped. As I inserted and tightened the screws, the brown coating began to peel off the pressure plate. Within an hour of starting construction, I discovered that no matter how many times I carefully screwed the screws into the wood, the locking system was misaligned. . There was a significant gap all along the bottom of the case from not being able to properly align and snap into the upper system. Here's a perfect example of how poorly designed this case is. The holes for the wooden dowels are too big. The dowels don't fit snugly in the holes. They should. Finally, these are the main pieces of guide hardware that hold the pieces together. Instead, the dowels just sit loosely. They fall everywhere when you put the shelves together. Round locks do not always close properly. So now you have sections of shelves that are wobbling because they can't be secured properly. In all the years I've been collecting furniture like this, I've never seen anything as poorly thought out as this shelf. The last drop has arrived. when I turned it over while trying to nail the back to the shelf. I could see that a huge piece of pressed cardboard had just been ripped from the side. I've included a photo below. That can't be hidden. I had to spend the next 20 minutes unbolting and disassembling the entire cabinet. I have contacted Revain and initiated the return process. Dear reader, I know you will be tempted to buy this cabinet because the picture looks good and there are many reviews from people who are happy with their purchase. If you need advice from someone who has spent a lifetime assembling dozens of these shelving systems and separating the good from the bad, please steer clear of this junk. There are bad furniture companies, and then Atlantic is one step ahead of them. I've never seen a product this terrible - from the build quality to the simple fact that you can't even point and rotate this thing properly. The sole purpose of this company selling this product is to make a quick buck from buyers who want cheap furniture. Do yourself a favor and spend some more money. This means less heartbreak when building and a nicer piece of furniture in the end. These are the products you will learn from. By that I mean you learn never to skimp - and if you do, you risk either getting something that works for you or hours of wasted time. Brands to consider: Sauder, Venture House. Rather spend a little more money and take what makes you happy.
