Surfing I shoot in 4k 60. I only press the video capture button when someone is on the wave. So most of the time I just point the camera at the surfer and wait for the 20 second drive to hit. I come home after each session with clips that are around 15-20 seconds long. Just waiting with the camera on makes it too hot! Don't even record 20 second movies. The reason I shoot 4k 60 is so I can frame grab, so essentially get 60 photos per second. The quality is amazing but I don't have the opportunity to use the camera. I just sit back and watch the recording time drop until it goes into overheat mode until I have to turn it off. Completely unacceptable. I shoot at 6:30 in the morning so it's not hot in the air. There is no way to turn off the camera between shots as you have to focus on the surfer in case the wave starts to break. I tried turning it off, but by the time it fires again and resets focus to 600mm, it's too late. Image quality is amazing, but there's no way to use the camera for long waits between capturing a 20-second video. I really can't believe it's overheating, just waiting. I even updated the firmware and still the same problem. I guess I won't be selling my 7D MK II just in case.
