Only one thing I don't like

For some reason Canon decided not to use all the available space on the rear LCD screen. If you're used to looking at nice big images on the back of a camera like a 5D3 or 5D4, the small image size looks cheap. Even the menus and information displays are so small. If you like looking at your pictures on the rear screen, there is a test video that will give you a good look at this screen in action before you buy it.

Rugged camera, best in the Camera & Photo category

You probably know all about this camera if you're looking to lose that much weight. I make YouTube videos and mostly take photos for IG, so that's great (if not too much) for me. I don't do a lot of long 4k formats so I haven't had any overheating issues so far. Focus is great, build is solid, does everything I want. Coming from the EOS R and RP, I couldn't ask for more. Looking at other reviews it seemed like the stabilization would be magic (for video) - which is good but I wasn't blown away.

Disappointing EVF for mirrorless cameras

EVF should be the best but after 5 minutes of playing with the camera the EVF is very disappointing - despite the 120Hz refresh rate the image is very choppy and slow , almost like retro ads - video games - nausea. That and the build quality feel very cheap compared to the 5D Mark III - too much plastic. However, there are some good features such as autofocus, high quality video, etc. UPDATE: The electronic viewfinder is clearly buggy. Stuttering sideways, 2-3 times when it should have turned…

Overheating Dealbreaker

Surfing I shoot in 4k 60. I only press the video capture button when someone is on the wave. So most of the time I just point the camera at the surfer and wait for the 20 second drive to hit. I come home after each session with clips that are around 15-20 seconds long. Just waiting with the camera on makes it too hot! Don't even record 20 second movies. The reason I shoot 4k 60 is so I can frame grab, so essentially get 60 photos per second. The quality is amazing but I don't have the…

Just great for camera and photo

Update: All the mentioned problems have been fixed with firmware updates. I have nothing bad to say about this camera other than the viewfinder twitching at times. a few seconds for some reason. I haven't been able to determine the cause, but it's not very bothersome. In any case. I upgraded both of my original Rs to R6s and couldn't be happier. The Eye AF is as good as they say, it's fast, comfortable and the image quality is the best I've seen on a camera. A lot of people are fixated on the…

LCD screen broken good for camera and photo

I fell in love with this camera the moment I unpacked it. I think the ergonomics are excellent and I've never used a mirrorless camera to its full potential before and didn't know what it was until I got my hands on this. Pixel lovers might not like the 20-megapixel sensor, but the smoothness and quality of the portraits I received were amazing. In my opinion even better than my work 5D mk4. Eye AF is so magical that it makes portrait photography that much more creative. Camera features and…

An excellent camera with a wonderful whale lens.

I received this camera a little over a week ago and took about 1,000 shots in various conditions with the kit lens and the L-series RF f/4 24-105mm lens that I used with a Canon RI camera, also own mine. I mainly shoot in JPG format and use RAW for complex images that may not give the best results when processed by the camera. R6 was bought to replace R. What's good: 1. The camera is comfortable to hold and easy to like.2. Autofocus is excellent with any lens. When photographing our 4 month old

Pros
  • Few competitors
Cons
  • Unreliable

Just a few things to note.

I'm sure a lot of people will like this camera. Just thought I'd share my personal experience in case there are people like me who could benefit from my time at R6. I have a video/photo company and have been making videos and photos with Canon DSLR for about 8 years. and I really love Canon cameras. I shot a lot of videos on 5diii, 1dx mark ii, 80d and c100 markii. The 5diii and 1dx mark iii are incredible cameras and I can't say enough good things about them. 1dx mark ii, apart from a few…
