Review on πŸ”Œ Highly-Compatible Plugable USB 2.0 to Ethernet Fast 10/100 LAN Network Adapter for Chromebook, Windows, Linux by Timothy Kiley

Revainrating 5 out of 5

Works well with Windows 10 and Chromebook. But not recommended for pfSense

This adapter works well with Windows 10 and Chromebook. The adapter was recognized immediately in both operating systems and no driver installation was required. Speedtest.net showed a download speed of around 80 MB/s. It seemed that it works fine, fast and stable on these two operating systems. Although some others say it works with pfSens, my personal experience with pfSense hasn't been great. YES, pfSense will detect it easily, and YES, you can configure it (I've tried it as both my WAN interface and OPT1 interface), and YES, it transfers data at around 80MB/s. However, as soon as I added this adapter to my pfSense box, I started getting random freezes in my pfSense box. I couldn't find any rhyme or reason for what/when the hang will happen. When this happened, it wasn't the entire pfSense OS that hung, but the GUI, and the entire network seemed to come to a complete halt. I eventually removed that adapter and the pfSense box has been stable and working fine ever since.
