They cost about $1 each, Fluval about $2.50 each. We've been using these for a year with no problems. They are the same size as Fluval and fit perfectly in the canister. Very porous foam like Fluval. They work just as well as name brand products and cost half the price. Good foam for every day. They catch coarse dirt before it gets into the inner baskets of the container. Easily rinsed and reused. I cut them and also use them in HOB filters. It should be noted that Fluval filters are individually wrapped in plastic and boxed, but these normal seals are not individually boxed. This is something to be aware of. This foam works well and I recommend it for the price and convenience. It's good to have 12 on hand. As an extra precaution, I soak all food in a bucket of salt water (with aquarium salt) before use, then rinse well to clean and sanitize. I recommend rinsing them well before use as they are not individually wrapped.
