I currently use a Canon 5F Mark II but needed something smaller to take to crazy events like kids birthday parties, swimming pools and other fun places dads go. In the beginning I have a G12 because I always use Canon. But I really don't like the G12 - it's so slow on shutter. The GF3 is much faster in every way (especially shutter speed), although it's still not a DSLR. I used to wear the G12 in cargo shorts (uncomfortable but technically fit) - where the GF3 would never go. The G12's physical buttons and knobs are great, and I don't like the GF3's touchscreen. The touchscreen isn't like a phone's touchscreen; The screen responds with little pressure and is sluggish. But I can deal with it, because the photo function is actually a lot nicer than the G12.
