I think it's worth $20 with shipping. I have a Klipsch R-820 for my stereo speakers with an Onkyo TX-SR494 AV receiver to power them (quality setup) and a Technics Quartz turntable, this preamp has no volume/gain control so I had to Set the receiver to 60-. 70 before when I was able to achieve normal listening levels while sitting 6 feet from my speakers. At this point I could hear a high pitched hum over everything, even on brand new vinyl. My turntable was also properly grounded. I even have everything for my stereo, and this unit is powered by a Furman power stabilizer that should filter out background noise. (I have no problem with this through any other input on the receiver) However I couldn't stand it and sent the unit back. I don't recommend this preamp unless you have a cheaper system or something that isn't made for critical listening.
