I bought these because I needed something for the van that wasn't plastic. They look like plastic, heat up and color just like plastic. If you reheat them in the microwave, they'll be very hot to the touch, so you'll need to use oven mitts. If you put in tomato soup or dye food, they will discolor like plastic, so keep that in mind too. They are solid and durable. I was a bit worried about buying them because my husband has a mild gluten sensitivity. However, it didn't have any of the problems I've seen eating from these bowls to date.
