Great for bike assembly/maintenance!
It has a nice smooth gel grip side that doesn't scratch the bike I've seen and is much easier to use to stabilize a wheel on a bike rack. An unexpected plus is that when assembling a factory bike I needed something to hold the fork and handlebars to the body while installing some parts to keep them from loosening/bend the cables. So it's generally a practical thing.
