Socket off center. At least not on the device I received. It must have been an accident judging by all the good reviews. In any case, the off-center base causes the entire fixture to hang at a slight angle, which is *possibly* acceptable until you insert the glass dome, and it's just MUCH unbalanced and obvious. It ended up looking like a very cheap trailer to put in my college dorm room because it was all I could find on my $10 budget. But it gets 2 stars for a nice long cord and it works. Thank goodness free returns.
