Revainrating 5 out of 5

Fits well, does what it's supposed to do! Good quality.

I guess these are mostly for people with edema, like diabetics or those with heart problems; or simply to be used as a precaution on long air flights to prevent deep-vein thrombosis, which can kill off even youngsters sometimes. It's probably be worth having a pair just for such long flights, if one takes them. Living in Hawaii, I take pretty much nothing but, so it was past time I got a pair. But the immediate reason I got some NOW is that I've had some sores on the fronts of my legs below the knees which just won't heal. Some of them are "liquid nitrogen burns" from a trip to the dermatologist 3 months ago; when you're a redhead in Hawaii, they freeze off any freckle that looks at them sideways. My doctor said it's normal, it just takes longer for stuff to heal below the knee, but it didn't when I was younger, so I figured I'd give compression stockings a try. (by the way, I'm not talking about horrible sores, just little scabs that never resolve).I'm a 6' tall male with spectacularly muscular legs, and these fit perfectly. These are well-packed and well-sized; putting them on is probably a lot like a woman putting on hosiery, but I've never done that. One of the first things I noticed was that if you have really hairy legs, all your follicles immediately protest when you stretch these over them, and they continue protesting in the background. If I was serious about this I might have to shave my legs, but that isn't a good look for me.I was happy that the socks went all the way over my calves; they were exactly what I had hoped. The "toeless" feature is probably great, but the tennis shoes I'm wearing need a thicker sock, so I put my thick white exercise socks on over them. Thus causes the "toeless" end to roll up, and it took me quite awhile to get it rolled back right under the gym sock. But I'm now compressing, and we'll see if it helps my healing. I can definitely feel the compression. from the knee down it feels a bit like a superman leotard made with invulnerable kryptonian fabric. It isn't that, but I'm impressed at the quality. doesn't seem like it'll snag easily, seems like it's pretty robust. Will have to report back on whether this diminishes after laundering, but as I sit here and type I'm getting a serious leg squeeze. 18mm of Hg worth, I presume, though this would vary depending on leg diameter I think. So far, it has my recommendation.

Pros
  • Medical Compression Garments
Cons
  • The material may not be as breathable as other compression socks on the market
