Helpful, But a Bit of a Puzzlement to Me

NuVein Surgical Socks, Anti Embolism 18 mmHg Medical Support for Women & Men, Knee High, Open Toe, Medium. Most people call anti embolism stockings compression stockings or compression socks. They are used as medical compression stockings to treat venous and lymphatic medical problems. These stockings are unisex, opaque. They hug the legs to evenly reduce fatigue, pain and swelling, may be used during and after activity, for recovery or as a medical compression sock. Medical Grade; provides…

Pros
  • Provides 18 mmHg embolic recovery support, promoting circulation and reducing the risk of blood clots
Cons
  • The material may be too thin and prone to tearing or ripping, requiring frequent replacement

these might work for me. So far they do after 8 other brands!

Okay, after about 8 different styles and brands, here are a pair that I can almost wear! All others I could not ever roll up my legs or pull or even use the tool on. My caregivers could not usually either. But these were manageable, though still painfully hard on my hands. Also the open toes kind of bother me and I wish for sheer, or colorful but white is ugly unless I was in my nursing uniform or 6 years old with a spring dress on! At any rate, these do not roll down so I may try wearing them…

Pros
  • Promotes leg health when reclined and bed ridden to minimize swelling and ensure healthy circulation
Cons
  • The medium size may not fit those with larger-than-average calves, requiring a larger size

Recommended Product

They are everything you want in a good quality medical sock and they fit really well. They are tight but not too tight and have a great level of compression to them. They are pricey but again, they are medical items and they are more durable than the average sock. They are good for men or women both and are knee length. 4 stars.*Thank you for taking the time to read my review and if it helped you make an informed decision either way about this product please let me know by taking a quick moment

Pros
  • they lasted through my husbands surgery and mine. they are still holding up fine
Cons
  • The stockings are only available in one color, limiting fashion choices

Lots to like. for my opinion

I've been struggling to find the right size sock from NuVein. I am a 5'2" woman, who wears a 6.5 shoe. My calf, however, is about 16-inches around. The Large is long on my foot (the open toe covers my smallest toes, though it does feel great on the foot, the length along the calf is too tall for my short frame (I think that will be true for the entire line of Knee High socks from NuVein for me, since they all say over 15"s) but the calf is a good fit.I originally tried size small from NuVein…

Pros
  • NV4408WH-M
Cons
  • The stockings may not be suitable for those with history of blood clots or deep vein thrombosis

Love NuVein products, but maybe I am missing something here?

My first pair of NuVein socks were closed toed and absolutely loved them, these are still great. Though, I feel like these are sized improperly. I often found myself needing to re-correct the bottom portion of the sock in order for it to properly fit again. This occurs often enough that you would need some tight socks over these to make them stay like the closed toed socks. The pressure is pretty light so I expect that to be a reason they shift so quickly at the bottom. These socks are also short

Pros
  • Targeted 18 mmHg strength compression at the ankle for patient recovery and recuperation
Cons
  • The open toe design may not be appropriate for certain medical conditions or skin allergies

Good Anti-Embolism Socks

These socks are made of a quality grade of fabric. It is thick and does a great job of promoting circulation in the lower legs. I wear these type of socks because I have a tendency towards swelling in my lower legs, especially at the ankles and the feet. The warmer weather months cause more swelling for me, especially when it is humid outside. These socks can make a big difference. They are sized well, with a good length that comes just below the knee. I would have rated them 5 stars but I…

Pros
  • I bought these for my mom after her back surgery. They fit her well and helped her circulation.
Cons
  • The open toe design means that feet may be exposed to cold or uncomfortable temperatures

Like Super Tight Panty Hose

My legs swell with the "stay at home" and there just is not enough to do.My husband and daughter have been trying out "compression socks" so I though I would too.I chose the XXL size, no toes. But the toes were just open and still reached beyond the toes. It was a lot of work to get them onto my legs - over 15 minutes to put on socks?!These would have reached well over my knees if they were not so fat.But after 3 hours of teaching, I could not feel my feet. My daughter removed them and I had…

Pros
  • Made from medical-grade materials, ensuring quality and durability
Cons
  • The stockings may not be suitable for those with varicose veins or spider veins, requiring a different treatment approach

Don't go by shoe size

Prescription compression stockings are fiendishly expensive, so these are an affordable alternative. However, there are two things to keep in mind. First, don't go by shoe size. There's a big difference between someone who wears a size 8 shoe and weighs 120 pounds, and someone who wears the same shoe but weighs 240 pounds. Measure around your ankle and calf. The tightest part of the socks is at the ankle. You should also consult with your doctor before trying these. There are several medical…

Pros
  • Medium size caters to a wide range of users, from petite to average build
Cons
  • The stockings may slip down or move around during normal daily activities, causing discomfort

Nice fit and value - my new review

Eternal search for compression stockings.hard to find for fat / swollen/ old legs. WHEN will companies make queen size calf size AND normal shoe size? These stockings do not kill my legs/ back putting them on.extremely hard for me to put on tight stockings, arthritic joints / back. I cut off at the upper ankle, wear like sleeves.Cut ,try on, cut little more until happy. Feel good & don't hurt me. I cut so I get the right stretch w/o big bunching under the knee or ankles swell. Spent $$$ on…

Pros
  • Unisex-Adult
Cons
  • The white color may not be suitable for those who work in dirty or dusty environments

Open Toe With Strong Compression Over All

I got these in white and find they have a stronger compression than the stockings I have been wearing. For now, I'll use them for short sessions rather than wear them all day. When I sit at my desk for several hours, they should help. The open toe was something I hadn't tried before, so I wondered if it would feel strange. It was nice to let the toes breathe. I think for going about in sandals, I'd like these open toe stockings but in a beige/skin tone color.

Pros
  • Feel great and do the job.
Cons
  • If the stockings are not fitted properly, they may slide down or bunch up, causing discomfort and irritation

What works for some medically may not for others.

I have seen these given at clinics and physically therapy wards and serve specifically to prevent clots and other blockages. I can't attest to its medical benefits; but this NuVein surgical socks is clean in white, comes with open toes for less restriction and more comfort at the toes area, are comfortable yet compressive. These have a stretchy feel; the top of the socks has a 'tab' to hold the socks up. These are made to keep swelling to a minimum by helping circulation and better blood flow…

Pros
  • Manufactured with meticulous attention to detail in adherence to international standards
Cons
  • The open toe design may make it difficult to wear shoes or boots comfortably

Uncomforatble on my review.

The pressure is a little too low for my needs. I didn't like that it's open toed. Kind of feels like I've put something around my toes and cut off circulation. Also, it gets dirty too fast and loses its whiteness. The material is durable enough and came through the wash okay. Well, except for the color. I couldn't get it be white, white anymore.

Pros
  • Can be worn during extended periods of sedentary activities, such as long-haul flights or desk jobs
Cons
  • The open toe design may increase the risk of developing blisters or calluses on the feet

Not for diabetics good for me

There are great benefits to wearing compression stockings, but not for people with certain conditions, such as diabetes. So talk with your medical professional before trying these out. If you get approval, be sure to measure around your ankle and calf, since these stockings are tightest around the ankle and not really based upon shoe size. A person who is 120 pounds won't get the same result as one who is 240 pounds, even if they both wear the same size shoe. I recommend hand washing these…

Pros
  • Surgical Appliance Industries (Accelerator Program)
Cons
  • The white color may show stains and dirt easily, requiring frequent washing

Good for hot weather.

Like these compression socks for summer. The color helps the knee high stockings fit for hot weather. I would love these same stockings in other colors so no one would know that they are compression stockings.

Pros
  • B07PN4Q5G8
Cons
  • The stockings may be too tight for those with sensitive skin or allergies

Not comfortable best in my review

I have to wear compression hose and I thought these would work for me and they do not. I’ve had them for a while now and the just don’t hold up. The ones I have has started to run so the durability is not good.I don’t like how they feel in comparison with my other compression hose. I don’t think I would recommend them but you will have to try for yourself because to me compression stockings has a different variance for each individual.

Pros
  • Unisex design makes it suitable for both men and women
Cons
  • The unisex design may not fit as well on men's legs, who may have a different physiological structure

Surgical socks good for me

If you are spending a lot of time on your feet, this is a perfect sock that will restore vitality in your legs. Comes at a knee length which makes it perfect for wearing under the booths (winter or rain boots). They can be worn under trousers too. I wash them in a washing machine and let them air dry.

Pros
  • Health & Household
Cons
  • The price point may be too high for budget-conscious consumers

Fits well, does what it's supposed to do! Good quality.

I guess these are mostly for people with edema, like diabetics or those with heart problems; or simply to be used as a precaution on long air flights to prevent deep-vein thrombosis, which can kill off even youngsters sometimes. It's probably be worth having a pair just for such long flights, if one takes them. Living in Hawaii, I take pretty much nothing but, so it was past time I got a pair. But the immediate reason I got some NOW is that I've had some sores on the fronts of my legs below the…

Pros
  • Medical Compression Garments
Cons
  • The material may not be as breathable as other compression socks on the market

Consult your doctor first

Before deciding to use compression stockings, speak with your health care professional. There are a bunch of physical conditions which should prevent you from wearing them. Once you get the go-ahead, remember that these are based less on shoe size than on the circumference of your ankles and calves. They are tightest around the ankle. Take those measurements to find the best fit. These socks are open toed, which some people prefer, but consider that in summer you'd need to wear another pair of…

Pros
  • Offers a non-invasive and non-pharmaceutical ability to manage vascular issues
Cons
  • The product may not be suitable for those who prefer ankle-length or calf-length compression socks
