Revainrating 4 out of 5

Good Anti-Embolism Socks

These socks are made of a quality grade of fabric. It is thick and does a great job of promoting circulation in the lower legs. I wear these type of socks because I have a tendency towards swelling in my lower legs, especially at the ankles and the feet. The warmer weather months cause more swelling for me, especially when it is humid outside. These socks can make a big difference. They are sized well, with a good length that comes just below the knee. I would have rated them 5 stars but I found the opening at the toe area is too constricting for me. The fabric is doubled (I guess to prevent slippage), but because of that, it is so constricting that it can cause pain in the foot just below my toes. And if I move that area of the sock to include my toes, it, again, causes pain in the toes of my foot because of the heavy constriction. Other socks of this type I own with an open toe have a loose material that is not at all constricting in the open toe area. That style for open toe is much more comfortable than the constricting band in the toe area of these socks. Because of that constriction, I cannot wear these socks all day. I can only wear them for 4 to 6 hours before they are causing more discomfort than good. I do not know if others will have the same issue I have with these socks (everyone's feet are different!), therefore, I did not give them a rating below 4 stars. Overall, they are well made and as long as they are properly cared for (hand wash or machine wash on cold/gentle cycle and always line dry), they appear to be durable and will last a long time.

Pros
  • I bought these for my mom after her back surgery. They fit her well and helped her circulation.
Cons
  • The open toe design means that feet may be exposed to cold or uncomfortable temperatures
