Review on πŸ’§ Optimized Water Filter with Savant Digital Meter by Trey Harvey

Revainrating 4 out of 5

A good little built-in water meter needs better fittings

Like:1. small2. Relatively low cost 3. Suitable for water filter life monitoring (countdown)4. Good battery life Dislikes: 1. It takes a lot of teflon tape to avoid water leakage.2. One of the included push-in fittings on one side gave a false sense that the hose was properly seated. When first installed, one side leaked like a water hose. Utilized maximum arm strength to sit properly. This indicates that the tube fitting was not properly manufactured to the correct tolerances or specifications e.g. B. not smooth enough for the pipes to pass through easily. After the hose was properly installed, the same end fitting still had a slight leak that had built up on the threads overnight. You can't tighten it anymore. Maybe not enough teflon tape? I've wrapped so much tape on a thread that the thread doesn't seem to be visible until it's untied. You can imagine how much tape you will need. The tube fitting supplied may be of the wrong type or poor quality. This may have nothing to do with the meter itself. So, in hindsight, it might be better to order some quality fittings to install on the gauge and discard the ones that come with it. Finally, the slow leak seems to stop on its own after a few days. Overall not a very pleasant installation experience.3. Mounts under the kitchen sink with a semi-rigid plastic tube. It is not easy to adjust the position of the meter. All in all, it's still a good meter. I wish better quality fittings could be provided to save labor and installation hassles. Manufacturing inferior and therefore cheap parts actually costs more than what you might not see at the time of purchase.

Pros
  • Easy to install and operate
Cons
  • Out of fashion
