This is fantastic! I bought this for my elderly mother who I lost so she can hear the TV without turning the volume up to 100. The base unit sinks with the TV, then pull out the speaker and place it next to you on the coffee table or desk, and you can completely mute your TV and just pick it up on a distant speaker right next to you for them to hear. Now that I've lost my mother, I take her into the bedroom with me for the same reason, because my TV is far from the bed! It may seem expensive, but for me it was priceless because my mother was able to hear for several weeks before her health deteriorated and I lost her to cancer. I ordered a previous headphone system which works with a clearer picture for the same reason, I just couldn't get it to put the headphones on. She ended up wearing them backwards to bed but it was just uncomfortable so the speaker is perfect and worth $160!
