On the plus side is the excellent optical quality of the lens. But at least on my device the light switch didn't always work and sometimes the light flickered. There was also oxidation at the battery terminals. I removed the dirt but it was still intermittent. I will be ordering a few more as gifts and let you know if they are any better than the ones I received. TO UPDATE. Now I have five of these loops. Of the five, three worked right out of the box. The fourth, described above, is discontinuous. The fifth arrived with the light switch in the 'on' position and of course that drained the batteries. The focusing mechanism also didn't work on all five units - the top of the magnifier simply unscrewed from the base without focusing. This is easy to fix, but it's not at all obvious how until you know the trick. Unscrew the top completely. Hold the rotating ring in your left hand. Hold the thin threaded part with your right hand and turn it counterclockwise. The focus mechanism is unscrewed, exposing the focus sleeve. Grasp the lens by the focus ring and screw it back into the base firmly. Then you can focus with the rotating ring. Second update. The manufacturer was very quick to resolve the issues I reported by sending me extra batteries and a replacement unit. I added a star for their help. To get five stars, they need to fix quality issues. I will have to rely on feedback from future buyers to follow up on the quality. All in all I am overall, even if you have to return it, this is a very good product at a reasonable price. I would still buy it.
