We have a pappilon mix dog weighing about 17 lbs. I ordered a medium and it fit perfectly. He isn't too fond about the straps going around his back legs, but he tolerates is. He has long hair, but it isn't thick, so I figured he needed something to keep him warm on our walks, and I think this works very well. I only wish the strap that goes around the middle was a little longer. It stop right on his back, and the leash keep catching it. If it went down further on his side, it wouldn't catch.
