I have a device at work that just won't connect to USB serial adapters. My trusty Keypan USB Serial Adapter that works with pretty much everything else doesn't work. I contacted the manufacturer, they said I should be able to connect to the FTDI USB serial adapter. I tried one with good reviews with the same results. They were at a loss and stopped responding to me. I can connect to an old Dell Latitude with a built in serial port, but I need to bring a second computer with Windows XP installed. I wasn't sure if it was an issue with the Windows 7 installation software or the serial port type, but I just tried this Startech Serial Express Card Adapter and it works fine with Windows 7, connects with no problems.
