Review on Creative Intelligent Splash Proof Bluetooth Technology by Hunter Feerey

Revainrating 3 out of 5

Sounds AMAZING, the app doesn't work!

I won't go into the sound quality, I've looked at countless sound devices here on Revain, but the controls on this unit are too cumbersome for me to test/measure further. I'll say it sounds great, I've used it with USB and SD card. My complaint is that the app doesn't work with anything. Android. iPhone. Win7 PC. Win10 PC. Nothing. iRoar and SoundBlaster apps. Nothing. The device says connected, the iRoar says connected, the app says NOT connected. So I was left without an equalizer or remote, for two main reasons I chose (played) Creative. I've had problems with other creative software, hence the gamble. I've only used Creative since Radio Shack's 8-bit ISA card around 1989. Since then I've used at least 10 internal cards and 3 external ones. I used headphones, speakers and amplifiers. I still use Creative MediaSource 5 to manage my 300,000+ MP3 collection. I am everything. Software is ALWAYS buggy if it works at all. Hardware is usually a hit or a complete flop. Either love it or it's junk, including 2 returned external cards, 2 discarded internal cards, 1 returned earbud plus 1 discarded earbud. Customer service is virtually non-existent, ESPECIALLY when you want a refund. I'm done playing with Creative. love/hate is over. There are too many successful competitors to keep playing. The SoundBlaster Z series has been replaced with an external rack-sized Shiit Gungnir Multibit. I'll keep the iRoar for portability, but it's being replaced with its intended kitchen audio role. I was once a HUGE fan of Creative who convinced countless people to buy, now I'll look elsewhere. In conclusion, if you don't have the need or desire to control via the app, you'll be amazed by the overall sound quality, volume and bass end. The soundstage can definitely be wider if you can get the app working and tweak the sound with the filters, effects and equalizer. Volume is louder than typically required indoors or outdoors at close range. It should also be noted that while I'm not the only one having issues with apps, it seems like many have no issues at all. I wish I could explain instead of trying FOUR different setups on FOUR different platforms.
