Got the heater from UPS today. Unpacked, set up the bikes, connected them and everything worked. Chimneys conduct and circulate heat well. The buttons are easy to press (the device doesn't move when the buttons are pressed with one hand) and there's a very minimal "new" smell fading from the casing. The thermostat seems pretty accurate too. The only caution I would have is at home with children or pets, the sides and top of this unit are quite hot from top to bottom. Keep little hands away. I have run this unit many times in a cold cold room and have not heard the loud popping noises that others have complained about. Great block for a medium sized room if you ask me. Part 2. It's been about a week and it's working fine. Still no popping noises (even in Eco mode as some have mentioned). Maintains the set temperature fairly accurately. For those who have a bad smell from the unit, look for packing foam stuck under the heater (I found a few small ones under mine) and remove those pesky plastic warning stickers/labels from the back and sides. . When I got a strange smell I removed the stickers and it hasn't been a problem ever since!
