Purchased for NAS system. There was no fan in it, it couldn't be plugged in because of the proprietary connector. It gets very hot and sometimes had to be turned off to cool it down. I was listening to music and it just stopped, made a loud squeak, and now it just clicks and turns off. I took it to a reputable repair shop to see if data recovery is possible. They said they also didn't tell me that the failure was due to the rubber seal peeling off due to the hot heat, causing the needle heads to fail catastrophically. If someone decides to buy an 8TB drive, go for an SSD. Luckily I have music and photos on a flash drive. I wouldn't buy this if you're willing to risk losing data for a dime.
